Ph.D. Student in Social, Personality, and Health Psychology
I am a third-year doctoral student in the Social, Personality, and Health Psychology program
at Carnegie Mellon University, under the advisement of
Dr. Vicki Helgeson. My research interests lie in the biological, psychological, and social
factors that are associated with adjustment to chronic disease. Specifically, my
research focuses on how major social transitions impact diabetes oucomes including self-care
behavior, glycemic control, and complications. I am particularly interested in how these social
transitions may exasperate the development of cardiovascular disease in individuals with
diabetes.
I am working toward the goal of becoming a university
professor and researcher.
I believe in living a full, eclectic, unselfish life with absolutely no regrets. I work very hard, but I also find time to experience life and relaxation in ways that offer growth opportunities. Life-long learning is critical to my happiness, and I am always up for new experiences. My favorite activities include playing music and singing for fun, writing, reading, technology, hiking/outdoors, and spoiling my two cats. My most recent new interests include mindfulness meditation, playing the cello, and appreciating the opera.
